Photography is today, more than ever, the artistic expression of the people.
Through this incredible medium, people of all ages, orientation, social status, wealth and artistic expression now capture their visions of the world, and, what a world Australia is.
Unlike no other place on Earth, Australia is a cauldron of nature’s essence. Earth, wind, fire, and water, forged together with a bubbling and diverse humanity. Used to create the sublime imagery that all too often is hidden away on computer hard drives. Mostly never coming to life in the only way that art truly can. Hanging in a gallery, accessible to all your friends’ peers and admirers and sold to those who appreciate your artwork as the central feature of their homes and spaces.
Such exhilaration is often only afforded to a tiny few.
At the Independent Gallery for Australian Photographers, we think that all photographers should have the opportunity to submit their original photographic art, and once hanging in the igap gallery be judged by a panel of guest judges, igap curators and of course the vote of the people (the people’s choice)(through social media platforms). Giving encouragement and mentor-ship to all up and coming photographers, no matter their level of experience or scope of work.
